Haasil Ghaat Summary:

 The story of this novel is about an elderly man who is unfamiliar with the differences between Pakistani and American society. The old man’s daughter, Arjumand, is pursuing higher education in nursing at a Pakistani medical college. He is looking for a job in America. Finally, she gets a nursing job in an American state. She goes to America to join the job.

After her daughter goes to America, her father misses her a lot. He is always lost in the memories of his daughter. He starts to get very depressed. His daughter goes to America and gets a job in a hospital. She gets so familiar with the American way of life that she marries a doctor there. After the marriage, two sons are born to her. She decides to stay in America permanently and informs her father about her decision.

Arjumand’s father goes to America to meet his daughter after years of waiting. Going there, he is very surprised and disturbed to see the routines of American society. Everyone, there was very busy and engaged in earning dollars. He was not able to adjust himself to American society. He feels that there is a big difference between our Pakistani society and American society.

 In our society, the elderly are well cared for and their comfort is taken care of. While in America, the elderly are considered a burden and they are not given any importance. The old man always sits on the balcony of the house and watches the people coming and going. His daughter, son-in-law, and grandchildren do not have time to meet him and sit and talk with him.

Conclusion:

In the story of Haasil Ghaat Urdu novel, there is a mutual comparison between Pakistani society and American society. The positive aspects of Pakistani society and the negative aspects of American society have been highlighted. The differences between the two societies have been clarified. While American society does not have such traditions. Because of the abundance of wealth, people are greedy and selfish. There everyone is living only for himself. 

About the Author of the book:

Bano Qudsia was a well-known Urdu novelist, dramatist, and fiction writer. She was born on November 28, 1928, in the Ferozepur district in the Punjab province of India. Her fiction, novels, and plays became very popular and these stories left an impact on people’s minds for a long time. She used to write plays and stories for Pakistan. After starting television in Pakistan in 1964, he started writing plays and stories for TV.

She used to write literature in both Urdu and Punjabi languages. Bano Qudsia received her early education in her hometown Ferozepur. After the establishment of Pakistan, she settled in Pakistan with her parents. She received her higher education from the educational institutions of Lahore. Bano Qudsia graduated from Kinnaird College of Lahore. After that, he took admitted to an MA Urdu class at Government College Lahore. 

In 1954, he obtained his MA Urdu degree from Government College, Lahore. After completing his education, she started writing novels and fiction regularly. She has written more than fifty books which are very popular among readers.

The Government of Pakistan awarded Bano Qudsia with Sitara e Imtiaz in 1983 in recognition of her literary services. In the year two thousand and ten, the Government of Pakistan awarded the Hilal e Imtiaz.
