About the Author:
Imam Iban e Katheer was born in the Syrian city of Basra. He belonged to a well-known and educated family in Syria. His father was the Imam and Khatib of a nearby mosque. His elder brother was a renowned scholar and mufti of the area.
Iban e Kathir’s father died when he was four years old. After his father’s death, he moved to Damascus with his older brother to study.
He studied Islamic jurisprudence with his elder brother and went to the senior scholars of Makah to study Hadith. Imam Ibn Katheer was an expert in the sciences of the Qur’an, Hadith, Islamic jurisprudence, Arabic language and literature, and Arabic poetry. He was an excellent poet of the Arabic language.
