Tafheem ul-Qur’an is a well-known Urdu commentary on the Qur’an and the author of this book is the famous Islamic scholar Maulana Maududi. Maulana Maududi started writing Tafheem ul-Qur’an in the year 1942 and this great book of tafsir was completed in 1972. About the Author:

Moulana Maududi was a renowned Islamic scholar, journalist, writer, and philosopher. He was born on September 22, 1903, in Aurangabad, India. Maulana Maududi received his early education from his parents at home. After that, his father admitted him to Maulana Shibli Naumani Madrasa for learning Islamic sciences, philosophy, and logic. From this institution, Moulana Maududi received higher education in philosophy from the famous English teacher Mr. Arnold. After getting an education you decided to adopt journalism as a profession. He took a job as an editor in the weekly newspaper Al Jamiat.

Apart from working as an Islamic scholar, Maulana Maududi also served as a politician. He participated in the practical politics of the country. He was the founder and head of Jamaat-e-Islami, the leading religious party in India and Pakistan. Initially, he opposed the creation of Pakistan, but after the creation of Pakistan, he made great efforts to implement Islamic laws and the Islamic political system in the new country.
